Mazda6 Headlight Buying Guide (2018–2021)
The driver’s sedan that died
The Mazda6 was the enthusiast’s midsize sedan — the one journalists recommended and buyers kept. Mazda killed it in North America after 2021, which makes the surviving cars keeper cars: owners who chose the 6 over a Camry maintain them. Correctly-scoped 2018–2021 lighting pages face almost no competition.
| Year Range | Generation | Headlight Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2018–2021 | 3rd gen (GJ/GL) | LED headlights standard from the 2018 refresh; discontinued after 2021 |
One fitment — with one caveat
The 2018 refresh standardized LED headlights and subtly revised the front end. 2018–2021 assemblies interchange within this range, but do not cross into the pre-refresh 2014–2017 cars — different units.
Why LED replacements cost what they do
Full LED assemblies are sealed units with integrated drivers and adaptive front-lighting circuitry on upper trims. The payoff is factory-correct beam patterns with zero wiring hacks.
