Pilot Headlight Buying Guide (2018–2026)
Two generations — and the TrailSport arrival
The 4th-generation Pilot (2023+) brought boxier styling, standard LED headlights, and the new TrailSport off-road trim. The 3rd generation (2018–2022) used halogen projectors on most trims. Two fitments that do not interchange.
| Year Range | Generation | Headlight Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2018–2022 | 3rd gen | Halogen projector base; LED on Touring/Elite; 2019 facelift |
| 2023–2026 | 4th gen | LED headlights standard; TrailSport trim added |
The minivan-alternative’s headlights
The Pilot is the 8-seat family hauler for buyers who refused the minivan — which means it does the same duty cycle: school runs, road trips, arena parking lots, high annual mileage. Headlights die the ordinary deaths: lens hazing from highway miles and bumper taps in crowded lots. Replacement is maintenance, and buyers want the right fitment fast.
Halogen vs. LED
3rd-gen LX/EX trims used halogen projectors; Touring and Elite got LED. The 4th gen standardized LED. Upgrading a 3rd-gen car means a complete LED assembly — never LED bulbs in the halogen projector.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will 2020 Pilot headlights fit my 2024?
No. The 2023 Pilot is the all-new 4th generation with completely different headlights. 2016–2022 assemblies do not fit.
Can I upgrade my 3rd-gen halogen headlights to LED?
Yes, with complete LED assemblies built for the 3rd-gen fitment. Do not install LED bulbs into the factory halogen projector.
