Colorado Headlight Buying Guide (2018–2026)

Two trucks, one nameplate

The Colorado was fully redesigned for 2023. That means two completely different headlight fitments in this range: 2018–2022 (2nd generation) and 2023–2026 (3rd generation, all-new). They share nothing — different shape, different mounting, different connectors. A 2022 headlight will not fit a 2023, full stop.

Year Range Generation Headlight Notes
2018–2022 2nd gen Halogen reflector on WT/LT; projector beams on Z71/ZR2. 2021 facelift revised the fascia — verify before ordering
2023–2026 3rd gen (all-new) LED headlights standard across the lineup; entirely different fitment from 2nd gen

The 2021 facelift caveat

Within the 2nd generation, the 2021 facelift reworked the front fascia. Most 2018–2022 headlights interchange, but fascia-adjacent mounting tabs changed on some units — if you own a 2021–2022, double-check the product’s year range rather than assuming any 2nd-gen lamp fits. When in doubt, message us with your VIN.

ZR2 owners, read this

The ZR2 is the off-road halo of the Colorado lineup and the trim most likely to see lighting upgrades. 2nd-gen ZR2s came with projector-beam headlights distinct from base halogen units — match the projector housing if you want the factory look, or step up to a full LED assembly. If you are adding auxiliary lighting for the trail, keep it off this page: bumper pods and A-pillar “ditch” lights are a different purchase from street-legal headlights.

Halogen vs. LED

2018–2022 WT and LT trucks used halogen reflectors; Z71/ZR2 got projectors. The 2023+ redesign moved the whole lineup to LED. Upgrading a 2nd-gen truck to LED means a complete assembly — never LED bulbs in a halogen reflector, which scatters the beam and can fail inspection.

Driver side, passenger side, or pair?

Assemblies are side-specific. Replace the damaged side alone, or the pair if both lenses show equal aging — Colorado lenses take a beating from highway gravel, and mismatched clarity is obvious.

Checklist before ordering

  • Generation — 2018–2022 vs. 2023+ is the big split; nothing crosses it.
  • 2021–2022 facelift — verify mounting if your truck is facelifted.
  • Trim — WT/LT halogen vs. Z71/ZR2 projector vs. 3rd-gen LED.
  • Side — driver, passenger, or matched pair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will 2021 Colorado headlights fit my 2024?

No. The 2023 redesign (3rd generation) is a completely different truck with different headlights. 2018–2022 and 2023–2026 assemblies do not interchange.

What changed with the 2021 facelift?

The front fascia was reworked. Most 2nd-gen headlights still interchange, but check the exact year range on the product page — mounting details changed on some 2021–2022 units.

I have a Silverado, not a Colorado. Is this the right page?

No — Silverado 1500 headlights are a different fitment. See our Chevrolet Silverado Headlights collection.

Can I upgrade my halogen Colorados to LED?

Yes, with complete LED assemblies built for your generation. Do not install LED bulbs into the factory halogen reflector.

How fast is shipping within Canada?
